Eugen Lipkowitch (Yugoslavia, 1924 - France, 1987)
Born in Cantavir. In 1942, following the German occupation, he escaped to Budapest, where he studied art. He was active in the anti-fascist resistance. In 1944, he was arrested and deported to Auschwitz, and then to Mauthausen. In 1945, after liberation, he returned to Yugoslavia and studied art in Zagreb. From 1946 to 1947 he studied at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. In 1948, he immigrated to Israel and served in the IDF. In 1957, he moved to Paris, where he studied at the International School of Fine Arts, where he later died.
