Distinctive Badges that Jews Were Forced to Wear During the Holocaust

Forcing the Jews to wear a distinctive sign was one of the tactics of harassment that enabled the Germans to recognize Jews as such on sight, and was designed to create a gulf between the Jews and the rest of the population.  Even when the Jews were separated from the general population by being confined to ghettos, the orders requiring them to wear distinguishing signs remained valid and were strictly enforced.
