Distinctive Jewish badge (yellow star) that the Jews of Greece were forced to wear on their clothing in accordance with the directives of the German occupation.
On 12 February 1943, a directive was issued by the Nazi occupation government requiring all Jews of Salonika aged 5 and over to wear a yellow star on the left side of the chest. Each badge was printed with a number corresponding with the number of the identity card that they were forced to carry.
