Yad Vashem is open to the general public, free of charge. All visits to Yad Vashem must be reserved in advance.

Submission Rules

Eligibility:
The International Poster Competition is open to students and graduates of Graphics, Art and Design. Entrants must be over age 18.  
 
Entrants are encouraged to explore the resources on the sub-site created by Yad Vashem to create a poster for International Holocaust Memorial Day on the subject of “Keeping The Memory Alive- Our Shared Responsibility”.  
 
Poster Creation: 

  • The designated theme for the 2017-18 competition is "Keeping The Memory Alive- Our Shared Responsibility”  
  • Competitors must create a design for a 50cm by 70cm poster with a minimum DPI of 300. A minimized electronic copy in A4 size with DPI 72 must be submitted by the closing date for entries. 
  • All posters must be the independent work of the artist. 
  • One poster per entry: Multiple Poster Sets as single entries are not permitted.  
  • Competitors may submit more than one entry.  
  • Competitors are asked to submit an accompanying short description to each submitted design (no more than 100 words) in English, explaining the motivation behind their poster design.  
  • There are no limitations on layouts, color schemes, design or language, although if a language is used in the design, English is preferred.  
  • Designs deemed by the judges as offensive will be disqualified outright.  

Poster Designs should be submitted either by designers to 
international.poster@yadvashem.org.il 
specifying "International Poster Competition 2017” in the Subject Box 
OR 
to the coordinating UNIC. The email should incorporate the 100-word description, and the full name, nationality and email address of the entrant. 
 
 
Competition Prizes: 
The final judging of the top 12 designs will take place in October 2017.
The Best Design as per the judge's decision will receive a $500 Prize
The Second Best Design, as per the judge's decision will receive a $300 Prize
The Third Best Design, as per the judge's decision will receive a $200 Prize
 
The Judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 
 The designers of the 12 top-ranked posters will be notified of their win by November 2017.
 Participation in the competition denotes permission to the project managers to use and publicize the posters for educational and public use after the competition ends. The artists will not receive payment for this use. The 12 winning posters become the property of the project, and will be displayed extensively from January 27th 2018 (International Holocaust Memorial Day.) Posters will be copied and re-distributed at the project organizers' discretion. The 12 winning posters will be affixed with the names and countries of the designers, logos of all participating organizations and sponsors. An online lesson plan will be created based on the top 3 designs by Yad Vashem. 
 
While designers may be invited to attend the launches both nationally and internationally, transportation costs will not be covered.
 If the prizewinners do not provide adequate bank details to the participating organizations, they cannot receive their prizes.
