On 7 June, the Speaker of the Folketing (Danish Parliament), H.E. Ms. Pia Kjaersgaard, visited Yad Vashem. Ms. Kjaersgaard toured the Holocaust History Museum, participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, and visited the Children's Memorial. The Speaker also visited the Righteous Among the Nations tree planted on the Mount of Remembrance in honor of the Danish people for their efforts in saving Jews during the Holocaust. In the Yad Vashem Guest Book, Ms Kjaersgaard wrote:

"In commemoration of the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and in grateful memory of the lights in the darkness; never again!"

The Speaker visited the tree planted in honor of the People of Denmark, who collectively rescued some 7,200 Jews and 700 of their non-Jewish relatives on boats set for Sweden during WWII
