President of India Visits Yad Vashem

President Pranab Mukherjee of India visited Yad Vashem on 13 October 2015. Accompanied by Israel's President Reuven Rivlin and Yad Vashem Director General Dorit Novak, President Mukherjee toured the Hall of Names in the Holocaust History Museum, participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance and visited the Children's Memorial, dedicated to the 1.5 million children murdered during the Holocaust. The President was guided by Dr. Robert Rozett, Director of the Yad Vashem Libraries.

At the conclusion of his visit, the President was presented with the Yad Vashem Album, To Bear Witness. In the guest book, he wrote:

"I am deeply moved by the story of great human suffering and tragedy depicted in this memorial. It stands as a testimony to the terrible consequences to humankind that can result from extreme political ideologies. I offer a silent prayer in memory of all the men, women and children commemorated here."

The President rekindled the eternal flame at a special memorial ceremony held in the Hall of Remembrance

President Mukherjee was presented with a copy of the Yad Vashem Album, "To Bear Witness"
