The President of Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Petro Poroshenko, and his wife Maryna visited Yad Vashem today. They toured the Holocaust History Museum, participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance and visited the Children's Memorial, dedicated to the 1.5 million Jewish children murdered during the Holocaust.

At the conclusion of his visit, President Poroshenko said:

"I think this it is absolutely necessary not only for the leaders of states [...] but every person on the earth to visit Yad Vashem."

In the Yad Vashem Guest Book, the President wrote: "Ukraine highly appreciates Yad Vashem's activities that remind new generations of the Holocaust during World War II, and honor Ukrainians who rescued the innocent victims of the Nazi machine. In 2016, Ukraine together with Israel will commemorate the victims of the Babi Yar massacre, which occurred 75 years ago. We must ensure that similar tragedies are never replicated."

President Poroshenko was honored to rekindle the eternal flame in the Hall of Remembrance before the memorial service was held
