Croatian Foreign Minister at Yad Vashem

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Miro Kovac, visited Yad Vashem on 30 May 2016. The Minister was guided through the Holocaust History Museum by Director of the Yad Vashem Libraries Dr. Robert Rozett. He also participated in a memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance, visited the Visual Center and Children's Memorial, and signed the Yad Vashem Guest Book.

At the conclusion of his visit to the Children's Memorial, the Foreign Minister said: "I am trying to find the words which express how deeply I am moved by the story of suffering that this place tells. Yad Vashem is extending both a solemn message of suffering but also of survival, inviting us all never to forget."

The Foreign Minister heard from his Yad Vashem hosts expectations that the Croatian Government redouble its efforts on behalf of comprehensive accurate Holocaust remembrance, and against any form of Holocaust distortion or historical revisionism.

In the Hall of Remembrance, Minister Kovac made sure to pay respects at the area commemorating the Jasenovac concentration camp set up by the Croatian Ustase regime, in which tens of thousands of Jews, Serbs and dissident Croats were murdered during WWII
