On May 9, 1942, the first deportation train set out from Eisenach for the Belzyce Ghetto. None of those aboard returned. Residents in Eisenach over 65, as well as decorated war veterans, were deported a few months later to Theresienstadt. The remaining few Jews were deported a short time later. Very few members of Eisenach’s Jewish community survived.
