September 29-30, 1941, Velvele Valentin Krayz, one of the victims of the massacre at Babi Yar

Velvele Valentin Krayz, 1939. Velvele, along with other Jews from Kiev, Ukraine, was murdered in September 1941 in a ravine known as Babi Yar. The Jews were marched to the ravine, forced to hand over any valuables in their possession, to take off all their clothes, and to advance in groups towards the ravine edge. When they reached the edge, they were gunned down by automatic fire. At the end of the day, the bodies were covered by a thin layer of soil. In two days of shooting, 33,771 Jews were murdered.
