Yad Vashem today launched a Hebrew channel on YouTube. The new channel is in addition to the English and Arabic channels launched by the Holocaust memorial organization last month. The English and Arabic channels have already recorded more than 600,000 views to date. The Hebrew channel contains dozens of testimonials of Holocaust survivors, which are augmented by archival photographs, a virtual tour of the new Holocaust History Museum, as well as moving stories of families that have been reunited decades after they had been separated during the Holocaust.
The new Yad Vashem channels are dynamic and additional content and video clips are added on a regular basis.
Avner Shalev, chairman of Yad Vashem said, "The enormous popularity of our English and Arabic channels on YouTube testify to the strong interest in the Holocaust. We trust the Hebrew channel will have a similar success. The presence of Yad Vashem on YouTube is extremely important in view of the disinformation and lies disseminated on the Internet in respect to the Holocaust."
Prof. Yossi Matias, head of Google's R&D center in Tel Aviv, said: "We feel privileged that Yad Vashem uses YouTube as a distribution platform for their content and message. Their channels will allow them to bring this important content to new audiences around the world and will help people everywhere remember this horrendous chapter in the history of mankind."
Yad Vashem thanks Google and YouTube for their help in launching the new channels. youtube.com/yadvashemhebrew
