New: THE YAD VASHEM INTERNATIONAL BOOK PRIZE FOR HOLOCAUST RESEARCH

$8,000 Prize to be awarded annually to a research book; Prize aims to encourage excellent and new research about the Holocaust

10 March 2011

The International Institute for Holocaust at Yad Vashem announces the establishment of the Yad Vashem Book Prize for Holocaust Research, in recognition of high scholarly research and writing on the Holocaust and invites submissions for consideration. The prize is presented thanks to the generous donation of Sabina Schwarzbaum, in memory of her father, Holocaust survivor Abraham Meir Schwarzbaum, and his family who was murdered in the Holocaust, and is aimed at encouraging excellent and new research about the Holocaust or its antecedents and aftermath.

The prize, $8,000, will be awarded annually to books containing new research on the Holocaust, or its antecedents and aftermath. Research accuracy, scholarship, methodology, originality, importance of the research topic, and literary merit are important factors in judging the submissions. The winning book will be chosen by a panel of judges made up of Holocaust historians and researchers.
