Dozens of participants have gathered at Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies for its annual Winter Seminar. Participants hailing from the United States, Australia, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Romania, Belarus and Montenegro (formerly Serbia) join Yad Vashem specialists and other guest speakers to learn about approaches to teaching antisemitism and the Holocaust in the classroom.
The seventeen day seminar includes courses on: “Strategies for teaching antisemitism in the classroom and confronting the current rise of Islamic antisemitism in the Western and Islamic world,” “Jewish Life and Culture in Germany - The Question of Identity, 19th - 20th Centuries,” “Using Technology in Teaching the Holocaust,” “Holocaust and Art,” “The Vatican and the Holocaust - Post-Holocaust Christian Theology,” and “Confronting the Phenomenon of Holocaust Denial.” The course runs from January 6-22 at Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies.
Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies is responsible for education in Israel and abroad. Activities provided by the School include study seminars, teacher training programs, curricula development, overseas programming and publications. Seminars for educators are offered in over 10 different languages.
