Pope Benedict XVI's visit is a very positive and significant event that will increase Holocaust awareness around the world and will reinforce the ties between the Catholic Church and the Jewish people. His remarks at the conclusion of the visit to Israel regarding the Holocaust, strengthens the Pope's message to the world about the importance of remembering the events of the Holocaust, both to honor and respect the victims and survivors of the Shoah, and as a way to commit to the basic human values that underpin the coexistence of humanity.
