Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan hosted today the President of the German Federal Criminal Police Office, Bundeskriminalamt (BKA), Mr. Holger Muench, on the Mount of Remembrance. During his visit, Muench signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chairman Dayan, strengthening ties between the two organizations and paving the way for future cooperation in Holocaust remembrance and education.
In the wake of the alarming rise in antisemitism, particularly following 7 October, and unilateral condemnations of Israel, violent attacks against Jewish individuals and institutions have surged globally. Considering these trends, maintaining open dialogue, fostering historical awareness, and combating antisemitism is paramount. The signing of this MoU symbolizes a significant step forward, complementing existing partnerships with the Federal Ministry of Interior, regional police programs, and educational initiatives for police cadets across Germany.
Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan emphasized:
"These connections are crucial in the efforts to push the current wave of antisemitism back to the fringes of society. It is imperative to educate law enforcement professionals on the perils of unchecked antisemitism and intolerance. Today's agreement marks another milestone in Yad Vashem's global mission. We are dedicated to extending similar programs to governments and law enforcement agencies worldwide in order to combat the destructive forces of hatred and bigotry through the profound messages and lessons of the Holocaust."
