Yad Vashem views the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry as a serious distortion of the Holocaust. Contrary to its stated claim, the Holocaust was an unprecedented systematic genocide, carried out by Nazi Germany and its collaborators with the aim of annihilating the Jewish people. This fact is supported by countless testimonies, documents and studies. It is amazing that Russia, which supported two UN resolutions on the subject, distorts them with malicious intent.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs would do well to leave the Holocaust aside when pursuing a political agenda. Generally, it should base its pronouncements on incontovertible historical facts.
