23 February 2004
As a central part of the Third Annual Prime Minister’s Conference for Tourism to Israel, over 500 foreign tour operators, representatives of institutions, journalists, and others involved with tourism visited Yad Vashem today. They were given a special preview of the dramatic developments and events underway at Yad Vashem. The major event among these will be the opening of the new Holocaust History Museum in March 2005 - today’s visit included a presentation about the Museum and an exclusive tour of its building site. The tour was given in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Russian.
The Conference participants also learned about:
- Global access to the database of Holocaust victims’ names (going online this June)
- A major cantorial concert, featuring world-renowned cantors (June 9)
- The International and Multi-Generational Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and Their Families (May 4-9 2005)
Improved facilities and amenities, including the new Visitors Center As Israel’s second most-visited site, Yad Vashem is committed to meeting the evolving needs of organized groups and the individual visitor.
