Victor Bodson, former Justice Minister and Chairman of the Luxembourg House of Representatives, saved approximately 100 Jews during the Holocaust period.
Bodson owned a house in the city of Steinheim, close to the river Sure, on the border between Germany and Luxembourg. He organized an underground escape route for Jews, rigging up a special apparatus in his car for this purpose. The Jews had to cross the river Sure, and to come to his house in Steinheim. There, they changed out of their wet clothes, after which Bodson personally escorted them to a safe haven, prepared in advance by friends.
Bodson risked his life in the course of these activities.
On July 14, 1971, Yad Vashem recognized Victor Bodson as Righteous Among the Nations.
